Alejandro García-Botero is a senior associate in the Banking and Finance practice group.
He has over eight years of experience in financial regulation, securities markets and financing transactions. He has advised various regulated entities, both local and foreign, on the promotion and rendering of services as well as compliance with applicable law. These advices includes advising international entities on financial regulation for the promotion and marketing of financial services in the Colombian market, regulatory approvals required for the incorporation of entities subject to the surveillance of the Financial Superintendency, as well as advice to financial entities within integrated retail operations and the establishment of representative offices for foreign entities.
He has advised various entities on issues related to the securities market, both local and foreign issuances, including 144A/RegS notes, commercial papers, ordinary shares and term deposit certificates in the local andforeign market. Additionally, he has experience representing clients in cross-border and syndicated financing transactions and local project finance.
He holds a law degree from Universidad Externado de Colombia (Bogota, Colombia), an LLM from UC Berkeley (Berkeley, CA) and a postgraduate degree in Securities Markets Law from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogota, Colombia).
