Garrigues has won the award for the leading M&A firm in Spain in 2022. This accolade is given each year by Mergermarket, one of the top specialized global M&A publications, recognizing the work of legal and financial advisers on the biggest deals of the year in Europe. This is the fourth time Garrigues has won the award.
In a new edition of “Garrigues Sustainable Dialogs”, José Vicente Iglesias, a partner in Garrigues’ Tax Department, discussed with Javier Martín, professor of Financial and Tax Law, the increasing importance attached to taxation from the corporate governance perspective.
Garrigues has hired the attorney Diego Perales as Of counsel with the Administrative Law Department’s Energy practice at the Santiago de Chile office. Diego Perales brings more than 20 years’ experience as an advisor to energy sector companies. He is an expert in legislation and regulations governing the electricity market and in corporate law.
The Garrigues Partners’ Meeting has approved the appointment of 16 new equity partners (14 in Spain and 2 from international offices), as well as a new partner in G-advisory, the consulting arm offering technical, economic and strategic advice on energy and ESG matters. Half of Garrigues’ new partners, both in Spain and in the international offices are women.
The annual Latin Finance Projects and Infrastructure Finance Awards recognize standout project and infrastructure transactions in Latin America, a field considered fundamental for the region’s economic advancement. Four project finance deals that Garrigues advised on, led from the Chile and Colombia offices, came top on this occasion.

The publication International Tax Review (ITR), which covers tax news from firms across the globe, has granted these awards in the context of the EMEA Tax Awards, held yesterday in London and attended by the most noteworthy European firms and lawyers in the tax field.
