Garrigues has been recognized as one of the leading tax firm in Spain and Portugal, as borne out by the rankings published in “World Tax 2008”, a report prepared annually by Legal Media Group.
Garrigues has been recognized as the leading tax firm in Spain and Portugal, as borne out by the rankings published in “World Tax 2008”, a report prepared annually by Legal Media Group. The survey is based on opinions sought from top managers of corporate legal departments and on an analysis of the transactions undertaken by firms in this field in their respective countries.
For the fourth year running in Spain, Garrigues forms part of the rankings’ elite group and can boast the largest number of professionals singled out in the various practice areas scrutinized in the report: Ricardo Gómez-Barreda and Ángel Calleja in M&A and Cross-border structuring; and Aberlardo Delgado in Tax Controversy.
Garrigues’ Portuguese tax practice has garnered plaudits from the international directory for the second year, and is included in the group of top-tier firms, taking its place alongside the tax practices of the big four audit firms, among others. Fernando Castro Silva, managing partner of the firm’s tax group in Portugal, earned recognition as one of the leading specialists in capital markets.
Between Spain and Portugal, Garrigues’ tax practice can currently call on over 560 professionals, of whom 76 are partners.
Garrigues is also a founding member of Taxand, the world’s first global alliance of independent specialist tax firms, currently made up of over 1,750 professionals from 38 tax firms located in as many countries in Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa.
World Tax 2008 belongs to Legal Media Group, which has more than 15 years’ experience reporting on international business legal affairs.
