**The Italian Desk of Garrigues has received the award for the international[ Italian Desk](http://www.garrigues.com/en_GB/office/italian-desk) of the year (***italian desk dell´anno internazionale***) from the Italian journal** *TopLegal* **in a ceremony held last night in Milan. This is the second time the firm has received this recognition, which it obtained in 2016.**





With this award, [*Top Legal*](http://www.toplegal.it/) has mainly wanted to recognize two values of the Italian Desk of Garrigues which is directed by the partner, [Carla Frangoni](http://www.garrigues.com/en_GB/team/carla-frangoni). On the one hand, after more than fifteen years of activity, it is the firm with the most professionals dedicated to the Italian business outside Italy. The group is formed by professionals of different disciplines with perfect Italian language skills.

On the other hand, the publication has evaluated the firm’s international strategy which permits our [Italian Desk](http://www.garrigues.com/en_GB/office/italian-desk) to keep strong ties between Spain, London and Latin America, creating the right context for carrying out cross-border transactions and a clear competitive advantage.

Of the transactions carried out by the [Italian Desk](http://www.garrigues.com/en_GB/office/italian-desk) in the last months, worth noting is Garrigues’ role as main legal advisor of the Italian company Amplifon in the purchase of 100% of the Spanish group Gaes, for a value of 528 million euros. This purchase was the inception of the world leader in hearing centers. Another transaction that has marked the group’s activity this year has been the advisory services provided to the company Lucart (Italian origin and one of the main actors of the European market in tissue paper) in the acquisition of the production units of the Spanish paper manufacturer CEL, which involved negotiating with different agents like the Vizcaya Provincial Government, the workers of CEL and the insolvency manager.
