# Spain: The latest amendments on breastfeeding, unemployment and collective agreements are repealed and an increase in the minimum wage to 1,134 euros is announced

**Royal Decree-Law 7/2023, which modified the breastfeeding regime, unemployment and the priority application of regional collective agreements, has been repealed as it has not been validated in the Congress of Deputies. At the same time, the increase of the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI) for 2024 has been announced.**
The BOE of 12 January 2024 has published the [Resolution of 10 January 2024, of the Congress of Deputies, ordering the publication of the Agreement to repeal Royal Decree-Law 7/2023, of 19 December, adopting urgent measures to complete the transposition of Directive (EU) 2019/1158, of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 on reconciling family and working life for parents and carers and repealing Council Directive 2010/18/EU, and simplifying and improving the level of unemployment protection](https://www.boe.es/boe/dias/2024/01/12/pdfs/BOE-A-2024-664.pdf). This repeals the changes introduced by Royal Decree-Law 7/2023, which, we recall, included the [modification of the breastfeeding accumulation regime, the unemployment assistance regime and the priority application of regional collective agreements.](https://www.garrigues.com/es_ES/noticia/nuevo-real-decreto-ley-modifica-regimen-lactancia-desempleo-prioridad-convenios-colectivos)
On another note, on 12 January 2024, the Government also announced a 5% increase in the minimum wage for 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching 1,134 euros gross in 14 payments (15,876 euros gross per year).
