**Chambers Europe 2019 directory gives highest recognition to the Garrigues Restructuring and Insolvency Department**
For another year running Garrigues was ranked among the band 1 restructuring and insolvency practices. The UK directory Chambers & Partners highlights our “quick and agile response in delicate moments of our case”, adding that we are “knowledgeable about both the legislation and common practice in these types of negotiations so are able to anticipate the problems and propose solutions”, as well as the “personal involvement” and “full commitment” of our lawyers.

**The General Council of the Spanish Legal Profession organizes an international conference on corporate restructuring**
The international conference on corporate restructuring ([*Congreso Internacional sobre Restructuración Empresarial*](https://eventosjuridicos.es/es/eventos/congreso-internacional-sobre-reestructuracin-empresarial-gobierno-corporativo-y-derecho-de-la-competencia/15193/)) organized by the General Council of the Spanish Legal Profession was held in Madrid on May 9. The main focus of the conference was corporate governance and competition law. Garrigues partner **Adrián Thery** gave a talk on the subject of refinancing agreements, creditor and shareholder class formation.
**FIDE holds a workshop on the insolvency phenomenon at groups of companies**
On May 20, the Fundación para la Investigación sobre el Derecho y la Empresa (Fide) organized [a workshop addressing the insolvency phenomenon at groups of companies](https://www.fidefundacion.es/agenda/Fenomeno-de-la-insolvencia-en-los-grupos-de-sociedades_ae623879.html). Garrigues partner **Adrián Thery** was one of the speakers, alongside professor Francisco Garcimartín and judge Amanda Cohen.
**Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación hosts a seminar on the European Directive on preventive restructuring frameworks and second chance**
On May 30, the Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación organized a seminar on preventive restructuring frameworks and second chance. Garrigues partner **Adrián Thery** gave a talk on the subject of *Cross-class cram-down. *Absolute priority rule vs relative priority rule**, alongside professor Juana Pulgar and professor Francisco Garcimartín.
**Editorial Sepin organizes the 1st Corporate Insolvency Conference in Madrid**
Editorial Sepin will be holding the 1st Corporate Insolvency Conference on June 13 and 14. Garrigues partner **Adrián Thery** will be introducing and moderating the closing lecture by Madrid Commercial Court no. 2 senior judge Andrés Sánchez Magro on the insolvency law: perspectives and reflections for its reform. Ten senior judges from the Madrid commercial courts will be taking part in the conference, to be held at the Madrid Bar Association.
**FIDE analyzes rulings of the DGRN at a conference on insolvency proceedings and registers**
The [second cycle of talks](https://www.fidefundacion.es/agenda/CICLO-DE-SESIONES-sobre-la-doctrina-de-la-DGRN-2%C2%AA-sesion-Concurso-de-acreedores-y-registro_ae649321.html) on the rulings of the Directorate-General for Registries and the Notarial Profession (DGRN) organized by foundation FIDE (Fundación para la Investigación sobre el Derecho y la Empresa) is to take place on June 24. Garrigues partner **Juan Verdugo** will share his thoughts on the preparation of financial statements in the liquidation phase of insolvency proceedings, the winding-up and liquidation of companies without assets and the new legislation on registries that is expected to appear in the Revised Insolvency Law.
**The Madrid Bar Association looks at dealings between Sareb and insolvency receivers**
The Madrid Bar Association (ICAM) will be holding a workshop on good practices in dealings between insolvency receivers and Sareb on July 16. The co-chairs of the Restructuring and Insolvency Section of the Madrid Bar Association, Pedro Martín Molina and Garrigues partner **Adrián Thery**, will act as moderators.
