**This index is the reference for several social security aids.**
The evolution of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the Consumer Price Index (CPI) led to a 6% increase in the indexing reference for social aid, setting it at 509.26 euros for the year 2024.
So, [ordinance no. 421/2023, of December 11](https://files.diariodarepublica.pt/1s/2023/12/23700/0004300043.pdf) was published in the official gazette, increasing the indexing reference for social aid increase in 28.83 euros, from 480.43 euros (current value) to 509.26 euros, as of January 1, 2024.
The indexing reference for social aid is the reference used to establish, calculate and update several social security aids, such as unemployment benefit.
