**In mid-January the European Commission published a memo, factsheet and Staff Working Document and Communication forming the components of its first progress report on NPLs (non-performing loans). The report points to a 4.6% reduction in NPL ratios across the Member States.**

These figures show that solid progress is being made in reducing risks and that the European Union is on the right track in applying the action plan to reduce the risks posed by NPLs.
