The publication of the work program relating to the development and deployment of the new electronic systems, on April 18, completed the legislative framework enabling most of the provisions in the new Union Customs Code (UCC) to apply from May 1, 2016 and those on the remote systems and procedures to be phased in until December 31, 2020. Described below are some of the most prominent changes to the UCC which from May 1, 2016, will affect foreign trade transactions.
