# The minimum wage in Portugal increases to 760 euros in 2023

**It was published in the official gazette the [Decree-Law no. 85-A/2022, of 22 December](https://files.dre.pt/1s/2022/12/24501/0000200003.pdf), ruling the increase of the minimum monthly wage to € 760,00, with effects from January 1, 2023, onwards.**
The minimum monthly wage determined by law prevails over any inferior wages established in employment contracts or in Collective Bargaining Agreements. Therefore, from January 1, 2023, onwards, any employee that is currently receiving a wage inferior to € 760,00 will be entitled to have his wage updated, at least, to that amount.
In case of part-time employees, the minimum monthly wage is calculated proportionally.
The minimum monthly wage in the autonomous regions of Madeira and Azores is subject to specific ruling.
