Garrigues has just entered into a non-exclusive cooperation agreement with the Indian law firm Dua Associates – another step forward in the Firm’s international strategy and, more precisely, in its firm commitment to this market. It is the first large Spanish law firm to sign an agreement of this nature.
Garrigues has just entered into a non-exclusive cooperation agreement with the Indian law firm Dua Associates – another step forward in the Firm’s international strategy and, more precisely, in its firm commitment to this market. It is the first large Spanish law firm to sign an agreement of this nature.
As things stand, Indian legislation does not allow foreign firms to have their own offices in the country, or to provide advice on Indian law. Consequently, the signature of the agreement will contribute hugely to guaranteeing a top quality legal service for Spanish investors in the country. The two firms will also cooperate closely in organizing seminars, editing publications and developing secondment programs.

Dua Associates, with almost 25 years experience is considered one of the leading firms in the country. Its multidisciplinary team is comprised of over 200 professionals (fifty of whom are partners) with experience in practically all fields of corporate law: corporate/commercial, litigation, arbitration, labor law, international trade, banking, real estate, IP, etc. The companies it advises range from Indian companies, to US, European, Japanese and Southeast Asian multinationals, as well as organizations in the public sector. It also has offices in eight of the country’s main cities, including the capital New Delhi.
The experience of the Indian firm will be combined with that of Garrigues, which has been helping companies take their first few steps in the country for several years. The Indian Desk is made up of a team of professionals that operate from Spain, Portugal and China. Its most recent functions include advising Fundación Consejo España-India, as well as investors that turn to this institution to develop their corporate projects.
