Garrigues has received the **Best Law Firm of the Year** award in the first edition of the **The first Economist &amp; Jurist Group Awards for Excellence in Legal Practice**. The aim of these awards is to recognize the most influential leaders and most innovative initiatives in the legal arena in Spain.

These accolades showcase the legal sector’s capacity for transformation, and celebrate **innovation, leadership** and **commitment to ESG values**, at a key moment for the future of the legal profession.

During the ceremony, **Eduardo Abad**, partner in charge of Garrigues’ tax department and innovation and digitalization area, thanked Economist &amp; Jurist and the jury for the award and had a few special words to say about clients: "Without them law firms and lawyers would not exist". He affirmed that in these turbulent times “it is more important than ever to turn to law". He rounded off by declaring that "Spanish jurists are among the best in the world".

Another eleven awards were also handed out, including the most significant contribution to judicial independence, which went to the Supreme Court judge Manuel Marchena, best legal advisory service, which went to Asisa, Best Legal Start Up, the best project in innovation and the best young lawyer, among others.
