# Garrigues named ‘European Law Firm of the Year’ by Legal Week

Last night saw Garrigues pick up the award for ‘European Law Firm of the Year’ at the 2011 British Legal Awards, handed out every year by the prestigious UK legal journal Legal Week.
The [British Legal Awards](http://www.britishlegalawards.com/ "Abre ventana nueva") spotlight the leading firms, teams and professionals in their markets who stand out for their achievements over the course of the year and that have best catered to the needs of their clients in an ever-more competitive industry, against the current backdrop of financial recession.
The judging panel (made up of over twenty representatives from British companies and multinationals) singled Garrigues out, among other aspects, for its quality client services, legal innovation and expertise, its strategic vision, commitment to corporate social responsibility, earnings and internal career development.
In the words of Garrigues Managing Partner, [Fernando Vives](/en/socios/Paginas/fernando_vives_ruiz.aspx), “The fact that we have been named European Law Firm of the Year within the context of the crisis and by a publication as renowned as Legal Week makes this accolade particularly noteworthy. It is the result of an approach at all times oriented towards our clients’ interests, as part of our goals of ensuring a robust and sound professional and business model.”
The awards ceremony took place last night in England’s capital city and brought together a broad sample of the international legal industry’s most notable law firms. [Ignacio Corbera Dale](/en/Socios/Paginas/ignacio_corbera_dale.aspx), the partner in charge of the London office, picked up the award on behalf of the Firm’s professionals.
