The annual awards are given by the specialized publication International Financial Law Review (IFLR) belonging to the Euromoney group. This is the ninth time in the fourteen-year history of the awards that the IFLR has recognized the work of Garrigues (seven times as Law Firm of the Year in Spain and twice in the category of best transaction). In addition to the prizes awarded to the Firm, Antonio Garrigues, its Honorary Chairman, was awarded the 'Life Achievement Award' for his outstanding professional career. All three awards were presented last night in London at a gala event attended by senior representatives of the legal profession. "The award given to Antonio Garrigues is excellent news for the entire firm. In addition, the awards received strengthen our strategy and are a tribute to the spirit of customer service that inspires the work of all our professionals”, explained Fernando Vives, Executive Chairman and Managing Partner of Garrigues. In the category of Law Firm of the Year, the IFLR panel of judges evaluated the overall work performed by Garrigues professionals over the last year. In doing so, the publication conducted a comprehensive study which particularly highlighted the advice given by the firm in relevant and innovative transactions in different jurisdictions, carried out by leading Spanish Ibex-35 companies. The publication also took into account Garrigues’ international expansion and especially its strategic focus on Latin America, which has made it the European law firm with the largest network of offices in the region. The IFLR also positively valued other aspects, such as the firm’s profitability and the completion of its institutionalization process, with the appointment of Fernando Vives as Executive Chairman. Less than a month ago, the international publication Legal Business honored Garrigues with a similar award. **'Life Achievement Award'** In addition to the award given to the firm, the IFLR presented the 'Life Achievement Award' to Antonio Garrigues, Honorary Chairman of the firm, in recognition of his entire professional career and contribution to the legal profession. The lawyers consulted by the publication highlighted the Antonio Garrigues’ valuable work towards the modernization of the Spanish legal profession, as well as his support and efforts to convert Spain into a leading global economy. The prizes awarded by the IFLR are highly valued by the international legal profession.
