The awards ceremony held last night in New York, where the publication is headquartered, brought together the major financial operators and leading international law firms in the region. This is the second time Garrigues has won the award.** **Javier Ybáñez**, the partner in charge of the Latin American practice, stated that the award “constitutes recognition of Garrigues’ efforts to be regarded as a benchmark firm in Latin America and in each of the five countries in which we are present.” The editors of *Latin Finance* singled out the most innovative deals performed in Latin America over the last year and rewarded the work of the main players involved, including investors, banks and law firms. In evaluating Garrigues’ activity in the region, *Latin Finance* took into account the firm’s strategy in relation to its competitors, the economic and social significance of the deals led and the innovation shown in its approach to and delivery of the advice. **Oscar Arrús**, partner of the Peru team, echoed this idea, indicating that the award “reflects our constant efforts to be part of the most significant and innovative deals on the market.” This recognition validates Garrigues’ strategy in Latin America, centered on the opening of own offices in Bogotá, Mexico City, Lima, Santiago de Chile and São Paulo with local and international professionals specializing in the different areas of business law. **Pedro García Morales**, a partner from the Chile office, highlighted that “this award confirms the sincerity and strength of the firm’s commitment to Latin America and demonstrates the trust placed in us by our clients.” The Latin American practice has been bolstered in recent months with the incorporation of a number of experts in areas of strategic importance to the firm’s clients.
