# Garrigues advises Fersa on its first wind farm investment in China

The Garrigues Shanghai and Barcelona offices advised listed company Fersa Energías Renovables on all aspects, from the standpoint of both Chinese and Spanish law, of the planned investment by Fersa in China for the construction and operation of various wind farms in the Shandong province.
The Garrigues [Shanghai](/eng/oficinas_02.aspx?id=31) and [Barcelona](/eng/oficinas_02.aspx?id=3) offices advised listed company Fersa Energías Renovables on all aspects, from the standpoint of both Chinese and Spanish law, of the planned investment by Fersa in China for the construction and operation of various wind farms in the Shandong province.
On February 16, a Joint Venture agreement was signed between Fersa and Chinese state-owned giant Lubei Group Corporation to develop and construct various wind farms in the Shandong province in north-east China. The first phase will comprise the construction of a 48 MW wind farm at an approximate cost of €48 million, although the parties intend to develop other wind farms in the area with a view to achieving 10,000 MW installed capacity in 50 years’ time.
The Garrigues team in Shanghai was responsible for advising on the preliminary phase of the project, drafting and negotiating the agreements for the transaction, and advising on regulatory matters concerning the project, while the Barcelona team provided the initial advisory services and tax structure for the investment.
The Shanghai team was coordinated by [Francisco Soler](/eng/equipo_03.aspx?id=284) (partner in charge of the Shanghai office) and Begoña Suso (associate), and also comprised Karen Xu (associate), Haitang Xu (senior lawyer) and Yunjie Si (junior). The Barcelona team was headed by [Miguel Acosta](/eng/equipo_03.aspx?id=216) and [Albert Collado](/eng/equipo_03.aspx?id=9) (partners) and included Naiara Bueno and Adriana Lafuente, (associate and senior lawyer, respectively of the corporate/commercial department).
