This accolade recognizes the professional careers of individuals or institutions that have played an important part in the world of justice and field of law. According to the association, the achievement award was given to Fernando Vives “as a figure of reference in the field of commercial law in Spain, in major M&A transactions, mergers, restructuring processes, takeover bids, issuances and securities offerings; for the spectacular growth of Garrigues, the leading law firm by volume of business in continental Europe; and as the force behind the firm’s expansion in Latin America." Fernando Vives said that he is “particularly pleased to receive this award because it has been given by ACIJUR, an association of communicators whose prestige is well-deserved”. He remarked that "jurists and journalists share the responsibility, in their respective areas, for ensuring that the law is understood. In today’s world, they often become unwitting protagonists in the defense of the rule of law and democracy." He also said that his achievements would not have been possible without his colleagues at Garrigues and the firm's thousands of clients, remarking that the award will further reinforce his commitment to the law. The aim of the *Puñetas* Awards, of which there are various categories, is to recognize the work of individuals, institutions or groups for contributions made to improving justice and the rule of law, particularly in relation to the dissemination of legal information in society.
