The new regulations replace Directive 95/46/EC, which in Spain gave rise to Organic Law 15/1999 on Personal Data Protection (more commonly known as the LOPD). This legislative change affects both the internal organization of companies, as well as their businesses and, as of May 25, 2018, is directly applicable to all Member States, without the need for transposition. The major changes resulting from the new regulations were the focal point at the seminar held on Friday, March 24 at the AXA Convention Center in Barcelona, organized by Garrigues. Several professionals from the firm participated to sift through the content and novelties of the GDPR.
