**Following the [publication of the Ministerial Order no. 339/2019, 1 October](https://www.garrigues.com/pt/en_GB/new/stamp-tax-monthly-declaration-has-been-finally-approved-be-submitted-2020), which approved the new Stamp Tax monthly declaration (“DMIS”) and corresponding filing instructions such as provided in article 52- A of the Stamp Tax Code, the [Order no. 5/2019.XXI](https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt/informacao_fiscal/legislacao/Despachos_SEAF/Documents/Despacho_SEAF_5_2019_XXII.pdf) was disclosed by the Portuguese Tax Authorities ( "PTA "), which emends the deadline to submit the DMIS of January and February of 2020**





The Ministerial Order mentioned above enters into force on 1 January 2020, hence the DMIS have to be submitted as from 2020, by the 20th day of the following month in which the obligation has occur.

Taking into account that the DMIS represents a paradigm shift in the payment of the Stamp Tax to the State, which requires an adaptation by the PTA, the deadline to submit the DMIS and the corresponding tax payment of January and February of 2020 was now extended to 20 April 2020, instead of 20 February and 20 March of 2020, respectively, with no penalties applicable.
