**HKIAC launches financial services disputes panel**
The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) has launched a panel of arbitrators for financial services disputes. The panel comprises 30 members from 17 jurisdictions, including not only experienced arbitrators but also senior counsel, former judges and former in-house counsel of major financial institutions. It will be the primary source for HKIAC’s appointment of arbitrators for financial services cases.
**HKIAC announces Belt and Road Programme**
The HKIAC has launched an advisory committee and online resource platform () which are designed to support and assist parties involved in projects and disputes in relation to China’s Belt and Road policy. The platform will be updated with relating news and practical information for business and legal professionals.
**Leading International Arbitration survey published**
The eighth survey by White & Case and Queen Mary School of International Arbitration focuses on the “evolution of international arbitration” and the factors affecting it, including the growing role of technology, and calls for greater diversity within the arbitral community. It shows that London remains the most popular seat despite Brexit, while Singapore has moved ahead of Hong Kong as leader in the Asian market. The survey findings are based on the questionnaire responses of 922 participants, including in-house counsel, arbitrators, firm practitioners, the staff of arbitral institutions, expert witnesses, and third-party funders. 142 interviews were also conducted.
**Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry Arbitration and Mediation Centre (MARC) unveils innovative new rules**
The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MARC) issued new rules on 21 May 2018 aiming to facilitate the conduct of arbitrations as swiftly as possible and minimise time and costs.
