Garrigues named Transatlantic Independent Law Firm of the Year for deals between America and Europe
This accolade is the third award received by the firm in recent months in recognition of its international activities
Garrigues has been named Transatlantic Independent Law Firm of the Year for its cross-border activity between America and Europe. The award is handed out every year by the ALM media group, based in the US and the UK, which publishes specialist titles, such as The American Lawyer, Corporate Counsel or Legal Week.
The Transatlantic Legal Awards, held in London, seek to recognize the work performed by international law firm on deals and transactions between America and Europe, with a particular focus on major deals connecting the continents. One of the most highly-valued aspects was Garrigues’ network of offices in Latin America, with a team of 140 professionals working out of offices in Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Chile and Brazil, with additional support from the New York office. Recognition was also given to Garrigues’ presence in Europe, with offices in five countries, and in Asia, with offices in Shanghai and Beijing, strategic cities for investment in China and for coordinating transactions between Asia, America and Europe.
“This award reinforces our international strategy and recognizes the work carried out by all of our professionals. In a global market, where our clients are also international players, it is essential to offer a service that meets their needs, based on quality, immediacy and proximity,” affirmed Fernando Vives, Garrigues’ executive chairman.
The ALM team also valued other aspects, such as innovation at the firm, notably the Garrigues Innovation Think Tank, and the firm’s commitment to talent, diversity and corporate social responsibility.
With this transatlantic award, in the last six months Garrigues has earned the international recognition of the legal services industry in the main markets in which it operates: the firm was named European Firm of the Year at the British Legal Awards in late 2017 and Iberian Law Firm of the Year by The Lawyer in March 2018.
