Roberto is a prominent member of the Real Estate Group of Garrigues (Barcelona office) since 2007.
Admitted to pracitice law in Spain and Mexico, he is a regular speaker on Real Estate and Construction Law matters.
Over the last few years, Roberto has led some of the most relevant and complex real estate transactions carried out in Spain, such as:
- The turnkey project of the logistics warehouse (c. 200.000 sqm built-up-robotised) located in Seville, in which he advised the developer-landlord-seller in all phases of the transaction, including in the acquisition of the land, in the lease agreement (where the tenant was a renowned international online sales operator) and in the respective highly complex works contract (with Guranteed Maximum Price subject to Open Book methodology, Provisional Sums, Nominated Subcontractors, etc.).
- The reindustrialisation of land (over 400,000m2) located in the Zona Franca of Barcelona.
Also, Roberto provides recurrent advice on the drafting, negotiation and administration of construction contracts (including FIDIC contracts: Silver, Yellow and Red Books).
Experience
Roberto is counsel at Garrigues – Real Estate Group. He is admitted to practice law in Spain and Mexico. He joined Garrigues in January 2007 and was admitted to the Barcelona Bar in 2010 (member number 34434).
He is a frequent speaker on real estate and construction law matters, and on real estate investment opportunities in both countries. He has contributed to various publications (mainly on construction law).
Roberto is a recognized lawyer with more than 15 years of experience and practice in Spain, specialized in Real Estate and Construction Law and, in particular, in logistics and industrial turnkey projects (build-to-lease / build-to-sell).
Over the last few years, Roberto has led some of the most relevant and complex real estate transactions in Spain, such as:
- The turnkey project of a logistics warehouse of c. 200.000 m2 of built and robotised surface area located in Dos Hermanas (Seville), in which he provided legal advice to the developer-landlord-seller in all phases of the transaction, including the acquisition of the land (at that date still under urbanization), in the long-term lease contract (where the tenant was a renowned international online sales operator) and in the respective highly complex works contract (with Contractor's Guaranteed Maximum Price subject to Open Book, Provisional Sums, Nominated Subcontractors, etc.).
- The reindustrialisation project of the land (more than 400,000 m2 of land) located in the strategic Zona Franca of Barcelona.
He is also specialised in the drafting, negotiation and administration of all types of works contracts (including FIDIC contracts, in their different modalities: Silver, Yellow and Red Books), and in associated consultancy agreements (design and architecture, project management, site management, etc.).
Additionally, he has been actively involved in foreign investments and highly complex transactions carried out by international operators (mainly private equity funds and trust-like entities based in the US, UK and Australia) and also by leading local operators and investors in Spain and by foreign investment departments of real estate developers in Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, South America and Asia.
He is fluent in Spanish and English, and has a high level of Catalan language too.

- Validation of Mexican Law Degree in Spain (The Spanish Ministry of Education and Science & Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2009).

- Certificate of Proficiency in English (University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations).
- Various official training courses on FIDIC Construction Contracts.
Teaching activity
He has taught courses on "construction law" at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and ESADE.
