Torres’ main focus of practice is cross-border counseling; advising foreign investors on doing business in
Torres also advises in various complex commercial disputes involving both Chinese and foreign parties, emphasizing on cost-effective resolution of commercial disputes considering the client’s overall business objectives. As a member of a foreign law firm, he is not permitted to directly represent clients in Chinese courts; his role is to advise clients on the most effective strategy for and in management of the dispute resolution process.
Other practice areas in which he involved include shipping; transportation; logistics and port operations, shipping accidents and maritime insurance; major risk insurance; fishing law; sale, purchase, construction and financing of vessels as well as maritime arbitration.
