Josep Ensesa



Josep Ensesa is managing partner of the Litigation and Arbitration Department, which takes in the Garrigues civil, commercial and criminal litigation practices in Barcelona and the Balearics, and has a team of 35 professionals.

In particular, he practices in civil and commercial litigation and in arbitration proceedings.

He has advised clients, companies, business owners and private parties from Spain and elsewhere, and handled their defense at courts of justice and arbitration courts, especially in lawsuits concerning corporate disputes, sales of companies, termination or interpretation of all types of civil and commercial agreements, directors’ liability, unfair competition, real estate law and the law on construction projects, etc.

Additionally, he leads the restructuring and insolvency practice at the Barcelona office.

He has taken part in several of the main refinancing processes and handled or advised on major insolvency proceedings in Cataluña, in some, for the debtor, and in others, for creditors, and this both in the preinsolvency phase and in the insolvency proceeding itself. Further, he has handled the defense of directors and managers in a large number of assessment sections in insolvency proceedings.

Recently, he played an active role in several purchase processes for production units of companies in insolvency proceedings.

He lectures on the master’s degree course in litigation law at Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía (ISDE).
