José Miguel de la Calle Restrepo
José Miguel De La Calle Restrepo studied Law at the School of Jurisprudence of Colegio Mayor del Rosario and has a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with Honors from Harvard University. He participated in the “Politics of Global Finance” program at the London School of Economics and the course on the Economic European Union at Instituto Ortega y Gasset in Madrid, Spain.
He has a Diploma in Insurance Law from Universidad Javeriana de Colombia and has worked as Professor of Colombian Constitutional Law and Economics in International Politics at Universidad Externado de Colombia and as Professor in the area of Financial and Commercial Contracts at the School of Law of Universidad de los Andes.
He worked at Banco Nacional del Comercio in the process for its sale and restructuring, later becoming Legal Vice-President and General Secretary. He subsequently worked as International Broker and Executive Director at Willis Limited Reinsurance Broker, in the Property practice of the London office (United Kingdom).
In 2000, he founded the law firm De La Calle, Londoño & Posada with other colleagues, working as a legal representative and Head of the Financial and Insurance Law practices.
On August 26, 2011 he was appointed Superintendent of Industry and Trade by presidential nomination before the Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Dr. Sergio Diaz-Granados, a position he held with great integrity, leading various campaigns in favor of consumers and consumer rights in Colombia.
