José Chiarella is a partner at the firm's Lima Office. He specializes in general tax counseling, for both businesses and individuals, including financing operations, mergers and acquisitions, international taxation, and family business planning.
Prior to joining the Garrigues team, he had worked at Arthur Andersen, Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano, and as a consultant at the Luxembourg office of Ernst & Young.
His professional career has been highlighted by leading international specialist publications, including Chambers & Partners, Legal 500 and Who’s Who. All of them have named him as a leading tax lawyer in Peru.
He regularly gives papers at courses and seminars on local and international taxation, organized by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and Instituto Peruano de Derecho Tributario (IPDT).
He is a member of the Lima Bar Association, of the IFA and of the IPDT.
