Gonçalo Castro Ribeiro is a senior associate in the Corporate Law Department of Garrigues Portugal.

He has extensive experience in implementing various transactions in the areas of corporate law (especially cross-border mergers and corporate restructurings) and capital markets (with particular focus on the issue of debt and hybrid instruments, liablity management exercises and complex innovative transactions).

His practice also includes advice to foreign investors regarding their investments in Portugal.

Before joining Garrigues, Gonçalo was a lawyer at Leónidas, Matos & Associados from 2003 to 2004.

Speaker at international events, such as the CIS Wealth Conference in Moscow, 2016.

He was admitted to the Portuguese Bar in 2005.

Academic background:

He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University (2003) and also studied at The Hague Academy of International Law (2004), Complutense University of Madrid (2002) and Cambridge University (2000).


Author of several articles and chapters in specialist publications, including the "Treasury Shares Guide 2012-2014" of the IBA's Corporate and M&A Law Committee, and "The Economic Regulation of Governmental Fees in Portugal - Capital Markets", Almedina, 2008.
