Ángel Givaja Sanz
Angel Givaja joined the firm in 2002 and has developed his entire professional career in the Brussels office of Garrigues. He was named partner in 2015.
Angel built a vast experience in national and international cartel proceedings (including leniency programs) in various sectors, before the national and European competition authorities. Angel regularly participates in the analysis of agreements and commercial distribution policies and in infringement proceedings related to abusive behavior. He has expertise in European dossiers on State aid and he has also intervened in various infringement proceedings in relation to the freedom of establishment, freedom to provide services and free movement of goods.
Angel has represented several companies before the General Court and the Court of Justice. Similarly, Angel has vast experience in contentious-administrative proceedings before the Spanish courts.
Angel Givaja has built vast experience in the fields of antidumping proceedings, customs and other instruments of commercial policies. Since 2012 until the current day he has been recognized as a specialist in Antidumping and International Trade Law in Brussels by Legal 500 Europe.
Among other academic activities, Angel is a professor at the China-Europe School of Law, having led seminars on EU Competition Law in Beijing and Shanghai. Moreover, he has lectured on EU Law in various postgraduate courses organized by the Hamburg University, Erasmus University Rotterdam, San Pablo CEU in Madrid and the Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles (Course of Competition Law in the EU and in Spain).
Angel regularly contributes to international publications on Competition Law, such as World Competition, Concurrences, e-competitions o Journal of European Competition Law and Practice (JCLE), and is the author of various chapters in specialized publications of reference.
