The Garrigues law firm and the Institute of Knowledge Engineering (“Instituto de Ingeniería del Conocimiento – IIC”), associatedffiliated with the Autónoma University of Madrid (UAM), have signed an agreement to develop a project using robots to manage documents relating to legal services provided to companies.
Fernando Vives has been unanimously re-elected executive chairman of Garrigues for a new term, meaning he will remain at the head of the firm until February 1, 2022. The conduct of business by Fernando Vives as executive chairman was ratified by the Partners’ Meeting.
Garrigues has been named “Law Firm of the Year” for its advisory services in the Andes region at Latin Finance’s Deals of the Year Awards.
Garrigues has been named “Best Infrastructure Law Firm for the Andes” for 2016 for its advisory services in relation to the execution and financing of major infrastructure projects in this region. It is the second consecutive year it has won this award.
Garrigues has received the ‘Best firm-wide use of technology’, awarded by the British publication The Lawyer at the annual Business Leadership Awards ceremony.
Garrigues, the only Spanish law firm to be recognized, picked up the award at the ceremony held last night in London at which other European firms operating on both sides of the Atlantic were also honored.
Garrigues has won the European awards for 'Law Firm of the Year in Spain' and the best financial transaction in the category of 'Loan of the Year'.
Garrigues has taken International Firm of the Year at the annual awards presented by British publication Legal Business. The awards, which have a long-standing reputation in the legal industry, recognize aspects as important as strategy, management and client service at the best firms operating in continental Europe, Latin America, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Africa.
Once again Garrigues has gained recognition with the ‘Client Choice Awards’ granted by the legal journal International Law Office. Four professionals have gained accolades for services in their respective fields of practice: Eduardo Abad, managing partner of the firm’s tax department; José María Ruiz Ilundáin, partner responsible for Garrigues Commercial law department in San Sebastián; Carla Frangoni, commercial partner in San Sebastián; and Jaime Bragado, also a partner in the commercial department at the firm’s Madrid office.
The Partner’s Meeting also named seven new equity partners. These new appointments have taken the number of partners at the Firm to 292.
Garrigues has picked up the award for Continental Europe’s “Most Innovative Law Firm” at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards, the annual ceremony where the British newspaper the Financial Times grants awards for the pioneering initiatives taken by European law firms. This marks the third time in four years that the Firm has taken top honors.
At the provisional close of the 2009 fiscal year (from September 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009), Garrigues reported revenues from professional services of €334.3 million, according to the data submitted at the Partners’ Meeting held in Madrid. This figure represents an increase of 37.5 million on 2008 revenues (€296.8 million) or 12.6% in percentage terms.
