Iridium and Episol (Corficolombiana) won the Pacific Connection highway concession. Garrigues started as legal counsel of Iridium for the negotiation of the shareholders agreement and relevant corporate documentation with Episol. Now Garrigues is the advisor of the consortium for the whole project (including relevant project finance to be closed in 2015). The project includes the construction of a dual carriageway with a length of 31 km and the upgrade and maintenance of the current road. The project also includes the construction of 42 bridges and two tunnels (5.7 km in total).
This matter is important because it is one of the biggest infrastructure projects in Colombian’s history that forms part of the Colombian government’s 4G road infrastructure program that includes 47 projects worth US$25 billion.
The corporate experience of Felipe Quintero in Spain and Colombia was a key component for the success of the negotiation between the members of the consortium.
