Garrigues wins MAKE award

Garrigues has been recognized as one of the most admired knowledge enterprises (MAKE) in Europe in the study prepared each year by British company Teleos in collaboration with The Know Network. The award recognizes the ability of European companies to innovate and improve the quality of their products and services, thereby creating value for their stakeholders and shareholders.

In Garrigues’ case, the implementation of various knowledge management initiatives to obtain better results in its services was highly valued by the panel. The results of the European MAKE Study are obtained using the Delphi methodology, which seeks the opinion of leading knowledge experts and executives of Global Fortune 500 companies. The European shortlist started out with 58 candidates, which were whittled down to 21 finalists, with just 15 winners finally being named. Of the winners, Garrigues is the only law firm on the list and is one of only two Spanish companies recognized, together with Inditex.

In the words of Isabel Casas, Head of Garrigues’ Documentation and Knowledge Management Department, “being one of the winners of the 2015 European MAKE study enables us to showcase to our clients the solid and effective knowledge management system relied on by our professionals to provide them with the best service. It also endorses Garrigues’ commitment to knowledge management and innovation.” As she explained, “This recognition highlights the importance of support departments in a firm like ours. I have great personal satisfaction in leading a dynamic, innovative Knowledge team dedicated to serving our lawyers.”

In September, the Documentation and Knowledge Management Department also received major recognition, with Garrigues being named among the six finalists in the Best Knowledge Management Team category at The Lawyer Business Leadership Awards 2015.

While it is unusual in the industry, Garrigues has always entrusted the management of its internal and client collaboration tools to its Knowledge Department. Its role, among others, is to foster and drive collaboration both inside and outside the firm, through the different platforms and services it places at the disposal of its lawyers.

Indeed, the MAKE 2015 study singled out Garrigues for its ability to develop an environment that encourages knowledge-sharing and collaboration, one of the eight knowledge performance dimensions evaluated and analyzed by the panel of MAKE experts, together with:

  • Creation of a knowledge-driven corporate culture.
  • Senior management backing of knowledge management initiatives.
  • Innovation and creativity in the development of new products and services.
  • Management of corporate intellectual capital.
  • Successful creation of a learning organization.
  • Management of shareholder and client knowledge.
  • Transformation of corporate knowledge into value for stakeholders, clients and shareholders.

Garrigues has been investing in these areas for decades. Shared knowledge, the flow of new ideas and the use of the best technologies allows us to innovate year after year, improving and streamlining the processes that enable us to offer quality service, as recognized on numerous occasions by our clients.
