Garrigues strengthens its presence in Colombia under an agreement with Zarama y Asociados
Garrigues has snapped up the signatures of Fernando Zarama and Camilo Zarama, the sole current partners of Zarama y Asociados, together with the other six professionals from the firm.
Zarama is a prestigious boutique firm specializing in tax law, founded and presided over by Fernando Zarama, former Director of the DIAN (Colombian Directorate of Taxes and National Customs Duties) and Secretary of the District Tax Authorities, a renowned tax practitioner and author of numerous works on the subject, and headed by Camilo Zarama, a Colombian and Spanish lawyer specializing in tax law who, before joining the firm, pursued his professional practice for 6 years at Garrigues’ Madrid-based office.
This marks the culmination of the initial stage of Garrigues’ plan to set up for business in Colombia. The team, under the management of Javier Ybañez, is made up of 20 professionals specializing in mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, finance, capital markets, infrastructure and public law, antitrust, labor and employment and litigation and arbitration.
