Garrigues named a “highly commended firm” in The Lawyer’s international firm of the year category
The UK publication The Lawyer named Garrigues a “highly commended firm” at last night’s The Lawyer awards ceremony held in London.
In the ten year-plus history of these awards, Garrigues is the only European firm to have received the top accolade in the “best international firm” category, in which US firms and non-UK international firms traditionally compete. Last night, the firm again took the spotlight as a “highly commended firm,” equivalent to taking home a silver medal, behind only the winner, the law firm Cooley.
The Lawyer awards ceremony is one of the most important gatherings in the London legal sector, bringing together over 1,500 attorneys from the city’s firms each year. The jury assessing the work of these firms comprised attorneys from British firms, multinational companies and The Lawyer's editorial board. The jury cited Garrigues’ international strategy in Latin America, the importance of the transactions in which it advised during the past year, the firm’s financial soundness and its focus on innovation. Garrigues’ innovation efforts were also specifically recognized with a second nomination - something never before seen in previous editions - in the “best client service innovation” category.
