Garrigues and the Official State Gazette publish the Fashion Industry Code

Spain -

Members of the Garrigues team that helped prepare the Fashion Industry Code, alongside participants from the Official State Gazette (BOE) Government Agency: Alejandro Padín, Eva Gonzalez (BOE), Javier Cebrián (BOE), Rocío Belda, Manuel Tuero (BOE), Carolina Pina, Cristina Mesa, Álvaro de la Cueva and Jesús de la Morena.

Garrigues has renewed its collaboration with the Official State Gazette Government Agency, this time to prepare the new Fashion Industry Electronic Code. The publication (available HERE) compiles all the laws and regulations applicable to the fashion industry, a sector growing at a dizzying pace and subject to constant structural changes that deeply affect how it is regulated.

Professionals from our firm’s specialized fashion law area helped prepare the code, which analyzes the legislative framework regulating the industry, including issues such as counterfeiting, hiring of personnel, selective distribution, e-commerce, advertising and even tax and labor obligations. The document provides a detailed look at sector regulation, delving into the unique rules applicable to the different branches of the fashion industry: textiles, leather goods, footwear, cosmetics, jewelry, etc. The final section covers technical safety standards.

Garrigues has worked closely with the Official State Gazette Government Agency in preparing six codes, covering sports law, pharmaceutical law, insolvency law, intellectual property, foreign investments and competition law. All of these codes are in electronic format and can be consulted on the website.
