Carlos Espalíu, new representative of the Garrigues chair in central-europe

(09/02/05) The Garrigues Chair in Global Law reinforced its presence in Europe with the incorporation of Carlos Espalíu, a lawyer and expert in public international law. The new representative of the Chair will be responsible for coordinating the institution’s academic activities in Central Europe.

An expert in international tribunals, Carlos Espaliú graduated in Law in 1993 and completed a doctorate in 1999 at the University of Córdoba. He joined the University of Navarra as a lecturer in public international law in 1999 and two years later he was appointed as Counsel to the International Court of Justice in the Hague, where he has lived since then.

Carlos Espaliú has written a monograph on the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice in the Hague (2000) and numerous articles on international jurisdiction, treaty law and maritime law.

On his appointment, Carlos Espaliú visited the headquarter of the Garrigues Chair in Navarra and prepared, together with its Director, Rafael Domingo, a program of activities for the Garrigues Chair in Central Europe for the coming year.
