The Garrigues Tax Department provides ongoing and bespoke advisory services on Spanish and international taxation to Spanish and foreign companies and to multinational groups and individuals.
Its matrix structure, alongside the quality and experience of its team of professionals, leave this practice ideally placed to provide the solutions that the present business climate requires.
The size of the tax area and the Firm’s capacity to adapt to each client’s needs have led the Tax Department to diversify into different lines of specialization according to the technical component of the service and the economic sector in which it operates.
Garrigues is a founding member of Taxand, a global alliance of tax advisory firms spanning the five continents. As a core component of our comprehensive service policy, through Taxand we provide our clients with access to other highly-qualified professionals worldwide.
Our Tax Department provides advisory services to Spanish and international groups in the various areas of international, domestic and local taxation, in mergers and acquisitions, in due diligence processes, in negotiations and contracts, in project finance deals, etc. We help design the tax policy of groups of listed and unlisted companies, insurance companies, banks, mutual funds and pension funds, etc. Our tax experts also provide advice on claiming R&D&I tax credits and on all issues relating to incentives for patronage, and they advise not-for-profit entities. The Garrigues tax team also offers orientation on good corporate governance and the code of good tax practice.
We advise our international clients on Spanish and international tax matters and we accompany them in their international investments, offering comprehensive tax advice. We also perform ongoing and in-depth monitoring of all EU legislative initiatives and of the impact of CJEU case law in tax matters that may have a bearing on our clients.
We design and review transfer pricing policies and perform valuations of related-party transactions in accordance with the arm’s-length principle.
The tax team advises on operational restructurings, cost-sharing agreements and service contracts, and handles advance pricing agreement (APA) negotiations with the tax authorities.
We provide assistance in mutual agreement procedures linked to transfer pricing adjustments.
We advise on tax management, collection, penalty and inspection procedures. We file claims with Spanish and EU judicial review bodies and courts, and we handle State liability and tax offence proceedings.
