Garrigues picked up the Client Service Award at the Chambers Europe Awards for Excellence 2013 ceremony held on Thursday night at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, attended by representatives from a host of European law firms.

Garrigues has won the award for ‘Law Firm of the Year: Spain’ handed out every year by the specialist Euromoney journal the International Financial Law Review (IFLR). This marks the sixth time the Firm has taken top honors at the international awards ceremony, now in its thirteenth year. The IFLR previously singled out Garrigues as Spain’s leading law firm in 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2011. Moreover, in 2007, Garrigues also picked up the award for M&A deal of the year.

Making it a hat trick, Garrigues walked off with the ‘Client Choice Award 2013’ in the Spanish category. The accolade is handed out every year by the International Law Office review for excellence in client service and the ability to offer added value that stands out from the rest of the industry. International Law Office has been awarding these accolades since 2005 in more than 50 countries the world over. Garrigues had already emerged victorious from the 2007 and 2010 ceremonies.

Members of the Corporate team, led by Javier Ybáñez and composed of José Luis Palao Iturzaeta and Ignacio Corujo del Valle, have contributed with the second edition of the “International Capital Markets Review”, where they analyze the relevant regulation and regulatory developments in the Spanish legal market in the this area of expertise during the last year and where special attention is paid to the changes and trends produced by the recent international financial crisis.

Garrigues received the ‘Client Trust Award’ from the journal Iberian Lawyer at the Premios Oro España prize-giving ceremony held last night. This marks the first time the accolade has been given in Spain to clients’ preferred law firms and lawyers.

At the provisional closing of the 2012 fiscal year (September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012), Garrigues obtained €337.6 million in revenues from professional services, according to the data submitted at the Garrigues Partners’ Meeting held in Madrid. In percentage terms, this result is down 5% on the 2011 billings.

This morning, INVEST IN SPAIN and the law firm GARRIGUES presented the 27th edition of the Guide to Business in Spain. The event, which was chaired by José Carlos García de Quevedo, Chief Executive Officer of INVEST IN SPAIN, and Fernando Vives, Managing Partner of GARRIGUES, was held at the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness where the speakers reviewed the most important aspects included in the new edition, published in English and Spanish.

The British publishing house Law Business Research has released the 2012 edition of The Restructuring Review, which compiles and summarizes the main developments that have occurred in the legal market for business insolvencies and restructurings during the period under examination.

Garrigues picked up the award for “Best Spanish Law Firm 2012” at the International Legal Alliance Awards ceremony held last night at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand. Garrigues has once again been honored for its excellence and leading international practice, following on from its first recognition in 2010.

Taxand relocated to Madrid to stage its annual meeting. Around 500 people (some 300 taxanders hailing from 50 countries and over 200 clients) gathered together at the Hotel Eurostars to attend a comprehensive program of activities, taking in everything from conferences on current tax trends to face-to-face encounters between tax advisors and delegates from major multinationals. As the host and represented by numerous professionals from the tax department, Garrigues played a leading role over the course of the four-day event.

Yesterday, in London, Garrigues received recognition for the role it played, together with financial institutions and companies, in the Project Finance Deals of the Year 2011 in renewables and healthcare. In this way, Euromoney, which publishes Project Finance Magazine, highlights the best deals of 2011 in Europe in 24 different categories.

Garrigues received recognition for its innovation from the Financial Times at the FT Innovative Lawyers 2011 Awards ceremony held in London last night by the British newspaper for the most innovative initiatives by European law firms. In the honors list drawn up by the Financial Times of the fifty most innovative firms, Garrigues ranked top in continental Europe and sixth overall, including firms from the United Kingdom.

The Managing Director of INVEST IN SPAIN, María Paz Ramos, and Garrigues Chairman Antonio Garrigues participated in the launch event.
